This page maintains a list of missing pieces to turn the web into a proper OS.
- Offline (tentative solution: service workers)
- Payments (tentative solution:
requestAutocomplete()) - Camera (requires improved
getUserMedia()) - Disk access for photos and music (requires much improved
<input type=file>, ability to scan directories, return files of certain type)
These are sometimes suggested as requirements, but are less convincing:
